“Like divine signs glimpsed by the faithful, godeatgod is most rewarding for its subtle touches.”
-The Straits Times

“You know you are in for something beyond ordinary.”

“godeatgod is a stylish multimedia presentation that weaves together drama music, multimedia and technology into a provoking whole.”

-The Business Times

Created as a response to 9/11, godeatgod is a layered and moving exploration of power, sexuality, spirituality and survival in the post-traumatic world. It seeks to excavate the tragedies that surface - dishonesties, power struggles, corruption and egos. In the face of such moral corruption, art can perhaps question and provide an answer from within that paradigm, and without.

godeatgod is an intimate, personal and at times funny exposition about trying to live a better life; a take on censorship in the context of art; and an examination of love and grief.

Formed in 1987 by NUS Alumni Alvin Tan and Haresh Sharma, The Necessary Stage (TNS) is today one of Singapore’s leading theatre companies. It presented its early productions such as Still Building and Lanterns Never Go Out under the aegis of the then-Esso Campus Concerts. The Festival proudly welcomes TNS back to campus with an updated restaging of godeatgod.

*A co-presentation of godeatgod as part of NUS Arts Festival 2012 Homecoming Series and the 25th Anniversary Celebrations of The Necessary Stage.
