Benjamin Ang
Principal Tutor and Music Director
NUS Electronic Music Lab

Benjamin Ang teaches and guides the team in composing, developing, recording and performing original electronic music and multi-media performances and soundscape installations, such as the successful R.O.J.A.K. soundscape and performances at The Esplanade Concourse and at the City Festival in Hong Kong. Ben's other musical projects include remixing, DJ-ing, as well as producing and performing with Synthpop duo Cosmic Armchair.

 

Timothy Tan
Artistic Director
Electronic Music Lab

Timothy Tan is the Artistic Director of NUS Electronic Music Lab (NUS EML). A recipient of NUS Kent Ridge Undergraduate (Merit) Scholarship in 2011, he is a year 2 composition student at the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music (YSTCM).

Timothy’s compositions have been performed in public. This includes his chamber work, Romance of the Umbrellas (2008) and experimental duet work, Microbuilding (2012). Timothy also participated in Culinary Delights with the NUS EML for the NUS Arts Festival 2012.

Timothy’s composition approach serves to evoke questions from the audience, as well as discover the unknown, especially novel composition methods and sonic ideas. Timothy aims to be at the forefront of contemporary music-making, and aspires to groom future composers and music enthusiasts.

 

 

 

About the Creative Team

Jack Lim Leng Joon

Currently an undergraduate in NUS Pharmacy, Jack is the Production Manager of NUS Electronic Music Lab, and a guitarist in the NUS Guitar Ensemble (GENUS). He also plays the piano, the bass and other instruments. His compositions are influenced by music from all over the world, but are inspired particularly by Japanese music styles. He aspires to develop both his songwriting and instrumental abilities to touch people's hearts through music even as he heals their bodies with medicine.
