Set up by the team which worked on Singapore's first digital feature film, Stamford Hall, nuSTUDIOS Film Productions is dedicated to promoting the culture of film-making and film appreciation on campus.
While producing a film on 16mm or 35mm can be tremendously expensive, the advent of Digital Video technology makes filmmaking readily available to any adventurous amateurs on a shoestring budget.
nuSTUDIOS is divided into three main sections:
- The creative team, led by the Director, works on scripting and storyboarding, dressing the set, and piecing the film together in postproduction.
- The technical team, headed by the Director of Photography, handles the filming, lighting and sound aspects of production.
- The management team, concentrates on the administrative, legal and financial aspects. It also manages the advertisements, launches and distribution aspects of the film.
Past productions include:
- HYPE - the first mini-DV feature film done in Singapore premiered at GV Grand and screened for 4 days
- Shelter – Opening film for MOV International Digital Film Festival 2005
- SOULS – Arts Central Project Pilot Media Student Category entry and screened on MediaCorp's Arts Central
- Trailer for the Opening of The Asian Buddhist Film Festival (2008)
- Slipper Story, The Devil’s Playground and In Our Own Words at The Substation
- Cashless and In Our Own Words at The Arts House (2009)
The team has also conducted various film making workshops and film camps in script writing, editing, directing and digital film making on campus.
