Kent Ridge Ensembles
Kent Ridge Ensembles (KRE) hopes to distinguish a classical genre that is uniquely Singapore. It is a melting pot of Singapore's ethnic traditional instruments, musical styles and characteristics. The musicians are constantly experimenting and playing new compositions that features Singapore's diverse palette of ethnic instruments. This journey to self-discovery calls for support and involvement from fellow musicians, composers, government and the management.

KRE has performed on many occasions in Singapore and overseas, including some recent engagements that saw the group performing to our Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, Professor Shih Choon Fong, various top leaders/management of the Association of Pacific Rim Universities and at other international conferences. Other prestigious events include the China-Suzhou and Singapore 10th Anniversary Celebrations and FASS-ARI Centennial Conference 2005. In conjunction with NUS Centennial Celebrations, Xin Yun represented NUS in a cross cultural celebration with ETH Zurich University and performed at the ETH 150th Anniversary Gala Concert.

In 2004, Xin Yun Quintet and Sur Shringar Quartet conducted its first performance tour to Mauritius, Botswana, South Africa. Subsequently, Kent Ridge Ensembles has been invited to conduct two full concerts overseas: the opening concert of the International Music Festival 2005 in Sarawak, organized by the International Music Academy, and Xin Yun at the Eastern Melody Concert 2005, organized by Chinese Union in Zurich.
