Ceremony Schedule

Q1. Is it possible to have the schedule of ceremonies published earlier?

We will only be able to assign specific degrees to specific days when the graduation numbers are more confirmed. Usually, this will be some time in October at the earliest.

Q2. There are two dates and times for my Faculty’s Commencement ceremonies in the schedule of ceremonies. Can I choose which ceremony to attend?

No, you are required to attend the ceremony to which your degree has been allocated. Please check the schedule of ceremonies for the specific date and time of the ceremony that your degree has been allocated. The schedule of ceremonies by degrees will be available in the Commencement website sometime in October.


Listing of Graduates

Q1. How do I access the listing of all graduates to be presented at the ceremony?

In support of the campus-wide initiative to promote environmental sustainability, the listing of all graduates will be published solely in an electronic format which will be available for the duration of Commencement only.  More information on how to access the listing on mobile devices will be available on this website closer to Commencement.

On the Day of Ceremony

Q1. What time must graduates arrive at the University Cultural Centre for the ceremony?

You are advised to arrive at the University Cultural Center (UCC) at least one hour prior to the official start time of the ceremony.

Seating time for graduates commences one hour prior to the official start time of each ceremony.

To ensure that the ceremony starts on time, all graduates must be seated inside the UCC Hall at the following times:

  • Main Ceremony: 9.30am
  • All morning ceremonies (excluding the Main Ceremony): 9.40am
  • All afternoon ceremonies: 2.10pm
  • All evening ceremonies: 6.40pm

Q2. What should I wear on the day of ceremony?

Graduates with Mobility Challenges

Q1. I am a graduate with a disability and will be attending the Commencement ceremony. Can there be special arrangements made for my seating and presentation on stage?

Yes, special arrangements can be made. Please indicate what assistance you might require when you register your attendance online.

Q2. I have sustained an injury recently and will be in wheelchair on the day of my ceremony. Who can I approach for assistance?

Please send an email to commencement@nus.edu.sg to notify the Commencement Team of your condition, preferably one day before your ceremony or earlier.

Photographs / Souvenirs

Q1. Does NUS take photographs of the graduates on stage?

Yes, we have authorized photographers who will take photographs of the graduates as they are presented on stage. Please check with them at their booth which is located at the University Cultural Centre Foyer area on how to place the order.

Q2. Who is the official photographer and how do I order my stage photographs?

The official photographer for the ceremonies and order information will be announced in due course.  Alternatively, you may also check with them at their booth which is located at the UCC Foyer area on how to place the order.

Q3. Can I buy the ceremonies DVD from NUS?

We do not produce DVDs of the ceremonies for sale. However, as we will be having a live webcast of each ceremony, you may download these thereafter at this website.

Student Pass Cancellation and Visa Application

Q1. Can I still hold on to my Student’s Pass and return to Singapore in January 2021 to attend my Commencement ceremony?

No. International students holding a Student’s Pass must cancel their Student’s Pass within 7 days of being conferred. Please refer to the ICA website for information on how to surrender the Student’s Pass either in person*, or at the checkpoint when leaving Singapore.

*Note:

  • Entry into the ICA Building strictly for selected services and by appointment only.
  • To surrender the Student’s Pass in person at ICA Building, students need to click here to submit a request for urgent services at ICA Building. Only those who receive an approval appointment letter will be granted entry into the ICA Building.
  • Students who are unable to access the ICA premises can write in to UG/GD Help enquiry box for assistance.

Graduating students who intend to look for a job in Singapore may apply for a Long Term Visit Pass which is valid for one year and is non-renewable. They are advised to apply online once they have completed all graduation requirements (i.e. upon release of examination results), to factor in the expected delay in processing time. You may wish to refer to the RO Administrative Matters webpage for more information or download the form here.

Graduating international students are reminded that they need to be on a valid pass to remain in Singapore at all times.

Q2. Can the University assist to issue a letter stating that I will be attending the Commencement ceremony for my visa application to Singapore?

We can assist to issue a letter stating the date and time of the Commencement ceremony that you will be attending for the degree that you have been conferred. However, we are unable to do the actual visa application. If you need this letter, please send your request with the following information to commencement@nus.edu.sg:

Q3. My parents/guests are coming to Singapore to attend my ceremony.  They need a letter for visa application.  Can the University assist to issue a letter stating that my parents/guests are invited to attend my Commencement ceremony?

Yes, we can issue a letter stating that your parents/guests are invited to attend the Commencement ceremony. However, we are unable to do the actual visa application. If you need this letter, please send your request with the following information to commencement@nus.edu.sg:
