Please read the following before you proceed to register your attendance for Commencement 2020.

Step 1: Check your Eligibility

The following students are eligible for Commencement in 2020:

  • Undergraduate and graduate coursework students who successfully fulfill graduation requirements and are conferred the degrees in
    • Special Term of AY2018/2019
    • Semesters 1 and 2 of AY2019/2020
  • Graduate research students who are conferred the degrees from 1 July 2019 to 30 June 2020 (both dates inclusive)

Please refer to the additional information below for more details on your eligibility for Commencement.

Step 2: Register your Attendance

Registration to attend Commencement 2020 via myEduRec (Academics > Commencement Registration) is now open. The closing date is 10 June 2020*.

  • If you have been conferred your degree from July 2019 onwards, please register your attendance now.
  • For those who have completed their degree requirements by the end of Semester 1 AY2019/2020, please register after the release of your examination results or upon receiving your electronic conferment letter.
  • If you expect to complete all degree requirements in Semester 2 AY2019/2020, please register your attendance after you have applied/filed for graduation.

* As the seat numbers are computer-generated, those who do not register their attendance online by 10 June 2020 will not be seated or be presented with their cohort.

Step 3: Order your Academic Dress

After registering your attendance for the Commencement ceremonies, please proceed to order your Academic Dress from the official vendor, Serangoon Broadway, from 1 March to 10 June 2020.

Step 4: Settle Outstanding Fees (if any)

If you have any outstanding fees with the University, you are required to settle them before Commencement or your electronic conferment letter, degree scroll and/or transcript will be withheld.

Additional Information

  • Change of earlier decision to graduate  

    For students sitting for the Semester 2 Examinations, please inform your home Faculty (Dean's Office) should you change your earlier decision to graduate within 3 calendar days of the online release of examination results for your Faculty.

  • Important information for students in:

    • Faculty of Arts & Social Sciences

      Students will be awarded one (1) degree only – either a Bachelor of Arts degree (BA) or an Honours degree. The BA degree, once conferred, cannot be rescinded. Students who have received the BA degree cannot return to NUS to do their Honours. Students who have filed for BA but are eligible to continue with the Honours programme; and wish to continue to read their Honours, MUST retract their file for graduation within 3 calendar days from the date of release of their examination results.

      For FASS students who are graduating with a Double-Major in two subjects, please note that you will be scheduled to attend the Commencement Ceremony for the subject listed as Major 1.

      If you are graduating in Semester 2 and you have any queries regarding your graduation status, please write to FASS Dean's Office through no later than 4 June 2020.

    • NUS Business School

      Graduating BBA/BBA(Acc.) students from intake cohorts 2012 to 2016 and who have obtained a Cumulative Average Point of at least 3.2 in their graduating semester will be eligible for admission into the BBA/BBA(Acc.) Honours Programme. Such students who wish to pursue the BBA/BBA(Acc.) Honours Programme are to inform the BBA Office (via email to Ms Karen Lam ( of their intention within 3 calendar days from the online release of exam results. Failing which, it is assumed that they do not wish to pursue the BBA/BBA(Acc.) Honours Programme. No late request will be considered. [Students who opt to pursue the BBA/BBA(Acc.) Honours Programme will not be awarded a BBA/BBA(Acc.) (non-honours) degree. Students who had rejected the offer for admission into the BBA/BBA(Acc.) Honours Programme previously will not be considered again.]

      For students who do not fall under the above category and wish to change their earlier decision regarding graduation (i.e. either students (a) who had filed to graduate earlier but wish to withdraw their filing for graduation now; or (b) did not file for graduation earlier but wish to graduate now), they are to send an email to the Assistant Dean of the NUS Business School ( within 3 calendar days of the online release of examination results. Your request on the change in decision regarding graduation will be reviewed and subject to approval by the BBA Office. All late requests will not be entertained.

    • School of Design & Environment

      Architecture 4th year students who decide to exit the Concurrent Degree Programme at the end of Semester 2, AY2019/20 must inform the Dept of Architecture ( within 3 calendar days from the date of release of their examination results in order to register for Commencement 2020. Students who miss this deadline will only be able to attend the Commencement next year. Presently, students are not expected to graduate and consequently, are not eligible to register for Commencement.


    • Faculty of Science

      For students who fall under the following categories, an email will be sent to students' NUS email account on the day of release of exam results regarding the details of the conversion exercise.

      • FoS students who have Apply for Graduation (AFG) via myEduRec at the beginning of the semester in which you plan to graduate, but subsequently, wish to change their intention, should email to within 3 calendar days from the date of release of examination results. Please also take note of the following common scenarios which will apply to students.
        • Did not ‘Apply for Graduation (AFG)’ via myEduRec at the beginning of the semester and now decided to graduate in the current semester.
        • 'Apply for Graduation (AFG)’ via myEduRec at the beginning of the semester and now decided to withdraw from graduation and proceed on to Honours in the next semester.

      The deadline to email to is 5.30pm of the third calendar day from the date of exam results release. Late requests for graduation or withdrawal of graduation to proceed on to Honours may not be entertained.

      Students are encouraged to read the Student Portal page on applying for graduation and related matters, and contact FoS Dean's Office at if further clarification is needed regarding this.

  • Students who are on Exchange or Joint programmes with partner universities  

    For students who have participated in any exchange or joint programmes with partner universities, it is important that you check with your faculty/school to ensure that your credits are transferred back to NUS before the stipulated deadline in order to be eligible for conferment by 30 June 2020 and for Commencement in 2020.

  • Failure to meet graduation requirements/Failure to upload your thesis to the Digital Library of Theses and Dissertation by 10 June 2020.

    In the event that you fail to graduate, or for graduate students, you fail to upload your thesis to the Digital Library of Theses and Dissertation by 10 June 2020, your registration of attendance for Commencement 2020 and order of academic dress will become void automatically. Please note that successful registration of attendance for Commencement does NOT serve as a confirmation that you have successfully fulfilled graduation requirements.
