Doctoral Academic Dress

With effect from 2016, all Doctoral degree graduates will wear a gown of the same design and colour, regardless of discipline. The gown for Doctoral degrees is in blue with green trimmings on the front panels and the bell sleeves. The hood is lined in blue and the edges trimmed with green. The bonnet, in cotton, is black with a cord and tassel in green to match the trimmings on the gown.

The Academic Dress for Professional Doctoral degrees is similar to the gown for Doctoral degrees but with peach trimmings. The black cotton bonnet has a cord and tassel in peach to match the trimmings on the gown. There is currently only one Professional Doctoral degree – Doctor of Pharmacy.

Modelled after the Honorary Degree Academic Dress which is also one common Gown design for all Honorary Degrees, the new design Gown for Doctoral and Professional Doctoral Degrees has a clean, classic and elegant look. Made to last, the Gown in a comfortable polyester blend material will lend a stately air to its wearer for years to come.
