24 February 2011 was a special day where the NUS community of staff and students gathered at the University Cultural Centre to celebrate excellence in service quality, environmental sustainability, and safety & health. It is an annual event organised by the Office of Quality Management (OQM), Office of Environmental Sustainability (OES) and Office of Safety, Health & Environment (OSHE) to recognise and honour individuals, teams and departments for their outstanding contributions and accomplishments in these areas.
The guest-of-honour was NUS President, Professor Tan Chorh Chuan and the event was attended by more than 1,200 staff members including NUS senior administrators such as Deputy Presidents, Vice Presidents, Directors and Heads of Department.
The ceremony kicked off with the opening address by the Heads of the three organising departments A/Prof Tan Kay Chuan (Director, OQM),
Dr. Peck Thian Guan (Director, OSHE) and Ms Lina Goh (Acting Head, OES).This year's opening address had a refreshing twist with the three heads delivering their speeches in the format of the popular television game show - "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?". The 1st runner-up was NUS Libraries and the 2nd runner-up went to Comparative Medicine Centre and Kent Ridge Hall.
