Synopsis:

Don’t be surprised if the next Steve Jobs comes from China. With its recent explosion of bold new technologies, surge in venture capital and high-flying stock market listings, China is like Silicon Valley at the height of the dot-com boom. Rebecca Fannin, author of the newly published McGraw-Hill book, Silicon Dragon—How China is Winning the Tech Race, reports from the frontlines of China’s technological rebirth, from the first “technopreneurs” who created Chinese versions of Google, Yahoo, eBay, YouTube and MySpace to an enterprising new generation of innovators with cutting-edge ideas. China is leapfrogging past a legacy of outdated formats that stymie western firms. Because of the size and stature of China’s markets, such innovations could set world standards for technology. Granted, China faces enormous economic, legal and social challenges. But within ten to 20 years, Silicon Dragon predicts as much as 25 percent of global advances will come from China.
