Abstract:

An informal talk about muvee and its journey from a handful of people in a Singapore Research Lab to global pioneer in its field... why creating a company is hard and why it's worth doing anyway.

About the Speaker:

Pete is the co-founder and CEO of muvee Technologies, the pioneer and leader in a revolutionary concept known as Automatic Video Production. With degrees in Physics and Music plus a PhD in Electronic/Computer Music, Pete has spent most of his life working at the interfaces between art and technology.

As a Research Manager in KRDL in 99/00, Pete co-invented muvee’s core technologies. He then led the commercialization phase as muvee brought its first products to market, raised venture capital and embarked on the million other things you have to do to get a successful company of the ground. muvee was profitable by 2004, its third year of operations, and now employs about 85 people. It has a unique position in the media software industry, with at least 50 million copies of its software distributed worldwide and global strategic relationships with major players in the technology and media industries including HP, Nokia, Sony, Nikon, LG and Warner Music.
