Abstract

One of the realities of investing in early stage companies is that the risk is borne by a few willing believers while the reward, if the company becomes successful, is likely to be shared by many.

New company formation is a societal benefit, and those willing and able to accept the inherent risk of pioneering are a community asset. Thus it is in the best interest of all concerned that the capital of those financing the dreams of the entrepreneur be protected and positioned advantageously. Burnt out Angels do not finance many additional businesses.

The ownership of equity is but one way of participating in the development of a business and the speaker will discuss some other approaches too.
