Find out the motivation that was his driving force, the challenges that he faced and the critical factors that contributed to his success.
About the Speaker
Bernard graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering degree from the National University of Singapore. He worked for several years in the areas of automation, artificial intelligence and knowledge-based engineering with companies such as Digital Equipment Corporation and the Port of Singapore Authority. He founded AXIOM Technologies Manufacturing Pte. Ltd in March 1997 with four staff. Beginning as a CD manufacturer provided good opportunities to expand into other areas within the IT and media industries. In late-1999, he decided to expand the business to the area of DVD authoring and replication, just prior to DVD's surge in popularity in the market. This move propelled the company forward upon DVD's rise in popularity in late-2000 and today, Axiom employs about 50 people and is recognised as one of the front-runners in the DVD and optical media industries in Singapore. Bernard is a member of the Young Entrepreneurs' Organisation (YEO) and served on the Board of the Singapore Chapter in 2001/2002. He served as a member of various ERC sub-committees, and currently sits on the Ministry of Education's COMPASS committee.
