Abstract
The speaker will share his experience on 3 case studies on the investments made locally and overseas in the IT arena and the lessons learnt from these investments.
About the Speaker
Mr Liu started his career in the I.T. industry after obtaining his B.Sc (Hons) degree in Mechanical Engineering from University of Manchester, UK and a M.Sc in Operational Research & Management Studies from the Imperial College of London.
He joined Green Dot Capital Pte Ltd as President in September 2001. Green Dot Capital’s mission is to grow and invest in the IT and e-business technologies that drive the new economy, including funding and nurturing start-ups. Green Dot Capital is also the holding company of Singapore Computer Systems Ltd and SNP Corporation Ltd, both are listed on the Singapore Stock Exchange. It has invested in several IT and e-business startups and venture funds in the US and Asia.
Prior to joining Green Dot Capital, Mr Liu was the President & CEO of ABACUS International, Asia’s premier Global Distribution Systems (GDS) and Computer Reservations Systems (CRS), and a joint venture company with Sabre, Inc of USA.
At ABACUS headquarters, he was responsible for ABACUS’ operations and profitable growth that span 20 countries in the Asia Pacific. Mr Liu also represented ABACUS on the Board of INFINI, the joint-venture Computer Reservation System (CRS) of ABACUS in Japan.
Prior to joining ABACUS, Mr Liu worked for a major multi-national computer manufacturer. In a career spanning 22 years, Mr Liu has risen through various technical, sales, marketing and management positions to the positions of Regional Vice President for Asia and concurrently the non-executive Chairman of the Singapore operations.
Mr Liu is the Chairman of Safe2Travel Pte Ltd, W3 Infocomm Group Pte Ltd, Mobile Solutions and Payment Services Pte Ltd, QB Pte Ltd and Ensop Pte Ltd. He is also the co-chairman of the Singapore British Business Council IT/Software Sub-Committee and the Chairman of the Singapore IT Dispute Resolution Advisory Committee (SITDRAC).
He is a Board member of Singapore Computer Systems, SISTIC.Com Pte Ltd, National Library Board and Monte Jade Singapore. He was the Chairman of the Singapore Federation of the Computer Industry (SFCI) from 1995 to 1998 and a Board member of the Singapore National Computer Board and the Institute of Systems Science. He is also a past President of the Operational Research Society of Singapore.
