As Assistant Dean of Students at NUS Office of Student Affairs, Dr. Chen Zhi Xiong is involved in nurturing the community sports scene in NUS through various strategies to re-imagine the academic space, so as to bring fun physical activity to the grassroots in order to build stronger bonds and care for our staff and students' mental wellbeing. He is also involved in overseeing Freshman Orientation, and reviewing the training and development of student leaders. Zhi Xiong is also the Deputy Education Director at the Department of Physiology, Integration Lead Educator and CenMED Associate at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, and Chairperson of the Asia-Pacific Biomedical Science Educators Association (APBSEA).
Trained as a paediatric cancer scientist, he is Principal Investigator of the Neurodevelopment and Cancer Laboratory, NCIS Affiliate at the National University Cancer Institute Singapore and Joint Scientist at KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital. Zhi Xiong has studied and worked in NUS since 2001. Bleeding orange and blue, Zhi Xiong is determined to serve his purpose in transforming and impacting the lives of NUS students, so much so that he has decided to raise his children on campus by serving as Resident Fellow of King Edward VII Hall.
