A series of precautionary measures to maintain the safety and well-being of our staff and youth participants have been implemented.

As a precautionary measure to safeguard the health and safety of all youth participants, NYC will not be accepting any applications nor approving grants for YEP trips (including recce trips) taking place before 31 Dec 2020.

We also recommend that teams defer any planned YEP/ YEP+ trips during this period.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused and we seek your kind understanding in this matter.

Please continue to check the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA, and Ministry of Health (MOH, advisories regularly for the latest updates.

Launch of new YEP Goes Online (as of 20 July 2020)

NYC recognises the value of YEP and the impact it has created in the youth and the communities.
Learning from the experiences and impact of our local online programmes, NYC also pivoted to form YEP online to provide an alternative means, for youth to continue volunteering with the overseas communities. The new YEP Goes Online (YEP-GO), will provide a platform for youths to connect with overseas partner organisations, to develop programmes such as online classes, or trainings through virtual means.

YEP-GO will provide youth with opportunities to:

  1. Do Good for Overseas Communities. (Positive Impact)
  2. Forge Bonds with Youths from Overseas Host Countries. (Lasting Friendship)
  3. Join Online Dialogues with NGOs, Social Enterprises, Singaporeans Working & Living Overseas. (Continual Learning)

NYC will be funding 80% of total qualifying expenses*, capped at SGD$3,000 per team for YEP-GO.

Youth who join YEP-GO will still be eligible for funding to go on YEP trips when travel resumes. YEP-GO will continue as an alternative form of overseas volunteering after the pandemic.  Teams can also adopt a blended approach for YEP when travel resume.  The key criteria will be a minimum of 10 service-learning (SL) days with at least 7 SL days overseas.
