Rag & Flag

An annual signature Freshman Orientation event of the NUS Students’ Union since 1958 to encourage the NUS community to contribute towards improving the welfare of the needy and less privileged.

Giving Back to the Community

In the spirit of giving back, there will not just be one but two Flag Days at this year’s event. More than 6,000 NUS freshmen and seniors from all faculties will go around island-wide to collect donation from members of the public. The proceeds from 2019 Rag & Flag will benefit 22 beneficiaries supported by Community Chest.

Forging New Bonds and Fostering Team Work

Your charitable efforts will culminate at Rag Day (historically known as 'Receiving & Giving' Day). This is our gesture to thank the public as an appreciation of their generous donations and support during Flag Day.

Through crafting and constructing dazzling floats made out of recycled materials as well as rehearsing your dance moves for the theatrical displays at Rag Day, be sure to build strong bonds with your peers and seniors during these “hardship” weeks!

Being part of the magic of Medicine Rag has been an unexpected roller coaster of an experience. I never expected to form such strong bonds with my peers and seniors, to grow as an individual, and to learn what passion, creativity and hard work really means, and I have no regrets taking part in it this year.
