Course schedule

The course will be conducted over a period of four weeks. There will be assigned tasks to be completed by participants prior to attending each session.

Session 1:

Education Grant Writing Course – Educational Grant Opportunities and Key issues
Date: Thursday, 24/02/2022
Time: 10.00am - 12:00noon

This session is designed to cater to faculty members who are keen to learn more about the educational research grant opportunities and how to go about preparing a proposal for specific grants - e.g. Teaching Enhancement Grant (TEG), MOE Tertiary Research Fund (TRF) and MOE Education Research Funding Programme (ERFP). Participants will be encouraged to discuss and share their experiences in grant writing and explore ways to identify significant educational issues and formulate research-informed solutions. We will also be sharing the use of the ALSET Data Lake for educational research purposes.

Session 2:

Education Grant Writing Course – Developing a robust research design and methodology
Date: Thursday, 10/03/2022
Time: 10.00am - 12:00noon

This session is designed for faculty members who are ready to apply for an educational research grant. Participants will need to bring along and work on a draft proposal or research project that they have put together initially. They will be guided by experienced facilitators to develop a proper grant proposal in education, through well-established educational research methodologies. There will be opportunities to analyse and discuss examples of successful grant proposals.

Session 3:

Education Grant Writing Course – Bring Your Own Proposal: Writing Seminar for Grant Proposal
Date: Thursday, 24/03/2022
Time: 10.00am - 12:00noon

In this session, participants will share their completed draft proposal with other participants and experienced facilitators to engage in feedback conversations and explore ways to enhance their write-ups. In particular, participants will explore relevant literature and frameworks to ground their studies. There will be sufficient writing and discussion time for participants to clarify, refine and improve on their grant proposal to prepare for submission.
