By Rosemary Khoo
Dr Rosemary Khoo graduated from the University of Singapore in 1965 with an honours degree in English and Economics, and a Diploma in Education in 1966. She started the alumni group of seniors in 2009. As the President of NUS Senior Alumni (2011- June 2020), the group organised various events, such as forums, courses, tours and excursions, as well as their signature monthly Tea and Chat sessions which covered a wide spectrum of topics ranging from technology, health, heritage, arts and culture, science to even self-defense. These sessions have empowered NUS seniors to lead more enriching lives and they have eagerly looked forward to the monthly gatherings which have created many friendships and bonding with the University. As she passes on the baton after a decade at the helm, NUS President Tan Eng Chye and NUS OAR Director Bernard Toh presented her with a plaque and an appreciation letter to thank her for her service and leadership to the NUS Senior Alumni. Dr Khoo has penned a meaningful poem to express her appreciation to everyone who is a part of the NUS Senior Alumni to signify the close of her chapter as its President.
