Lunch Dialogues [Online]: Change-making and Community

Lunch Dialogues is a talk series organised by NUS Alumni Relations and NUSS. Designed to engage younger NUS alumni professionals in executive and middle management positions, the series creates a platform for the exchange of ideas among alumni, led by experts in their respective fields of industry.

Lunch Dialogues is meant to be casual and interactive, accompanied by forum-style discussions. Through this dialogue series, we hope our speakers can inspire our younger alumni to be successful leaders of the future.

Join Ms Carrie Tan as she shares why she gave up her corporate life at 30 years old before starting Daughters of Tomorrow, becoming an advocate for underprivileged women, and her commitment towards narrowing inequality. With her latest portfolio in Singapore’s Parliament, hear how she extends her community-building work, her current efforts in change-making to include mental wellness, and on the roles young professionals can play to make a difference in society.

Carrie serves as a Member of Parliament for Nee Soon GRC. Prior to joining politics, Carrie founded Daughters of Tomorrow, a non-profit organisation which facilitates livelihood opportunities and financial self-sufficiency for low-income women in Singapore. She is passionate about improving social mobility for families living in poverty and is also a champion for improving labour conditions, enabling families through enhanced caregiving support, and change-making through civic participation and community collaboration.
