In-House Programmes

A NUS staff’s learning journey begins the day they officially join the University as an employee. A learning roadmap of programmes is designed for staff to enable them to effectively pace, benchmark, and define the milestones in their career journey. Staff can look forward to a comprehensive suite of onboarding programmes right up to advanced leadership development programmes at the highest level institutionally.

NUS offers a wide variety of in-house programs for all staff through its

16 colleges, faculties, and schools. With a myriad of programmes and instructional methods, staff will be able to find something relevant to their learning needs and objectives throughout their careers.

External Development

Eligible staff may be sponsored by the University to attend external programs, both locally and overseas. These programs come in many forms, including courses, conferences, study visits, e-learning, and more. These opportunities enable staff to build their networks, gain insights from top industry practitioners, and acquire skill sets that support the University's objectives and their own individual needs.

In addition to management-initiated programs, staff have a great deal of autonomy in deciding on their own tailored learning paths and programs.

To support staff in curating the most relevant programs, NUS has introduced an A.I. platform called NUS Talented, which leverages big data and machine learning to scour over a million courses globally and recommend courses to staff that match their career profiles, job competencies,

and career aspirations.

Learning Sponsorships

Talent is a key foundation of the NUS strategy. NUS offers several types of bond-free learning sponsorships to eligible staff, namely, academic certifications, professional certifications, or formal qualification programmes, which are job relevant and in support of the University’s objectives. The sponsorships include the Skills Transformation Fund, Sponsorship for NUS Masters, and Sponsorship for Non-NUS Masters Programmes and Other Courses.

In general, staff seeking to apply for these sponsorships must fulfil at least 2 years of service in NUS and meet certain performance ratings, amongst other criteria.
