GEN2006 (1)

As part of GEN2006 student preparation for inter-generational community engagement with the elderly community, enrolled students learnt about the Humanitude relationship-centred care approach through a workshop conducted by Humanitude Singapore. Students were made aware of the importance of four pillars: gaze, tone, touch and verticality in reaching out to the elderly effectively, especially to patients with dementia where these four pillars would be useful as less cognitive processing of verbal language is involved. The workshop raised students’ awareness of the role of non-verbal communication in care management amongst the elderly.
