YURNI Said-Sirhan is an Instructor with over 17 years of teaching experience. She has taught students at different levels, and from diverse backgrounds. Yurni obtained her PhD in English Language, MA in Language Studies, and BA in English Language and Literature from NUS. She also holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Education from the National Institute of Education, NTU.

As an avid educator, Yurni believes in self-directed learning to develop critical thinking. She also values the perspectives that her students bring into class discussions.

Yurni's research interests include English for academic purposes, specifically how students engage with their course readings and develop their voice in writing, as well as language policy, language ideologies, and identity construction.
