We are humans.” Bots pick up functional messages and those that use generative AI can even compose messages, sometimes more fluently than we can. How then can we future proof ourselves? As tech-writer Kevin Roose (2021) argues, it is even more important to stay human in the age of AI. When engaging in workplace discussions, we can show we are better than bots though our authenticity, dynamism and energy. This series of standalone yet complimentary workshops focussed on the aspects of body, mind and spirit which we humans bring into the way we listen, think and speak.

Be all ears: Listening with your whole self. 28 August 2024, Jinat Begum and Yurni Said Sirhan.

Ditch the script: Energizing your presentations. 11 September 2024, Ted Siraki Arby and Owen Harry.

Say less?!: Negotiating authenticity and meaning in a diverse world. 10 October 2024, GL Lee and Dara Richard.

Make your voice heard! Speaking with your whole self. 16 October 2024, Julie Gouin and Tim Groombridge.

These four workshops attracted full registration, and as seen from the photos, the participants thew themselves into the exercises, especially the warmup exercise for the last workshop on making one’s voice heard. Julie who is a trained drama teacher and Tim who is naturally dramatic certainly encouraged the participants to make their voice heard!

The OCC team thanks the Central Library for hosting the workshops for the past three years.
