Sean is a Singapore based theatre-maker and educator from Australia, with nearly 30 years’ experience; mostly in our local industry. He mostly teaches and directs and sometimes performs and writes. 

Sean was Head of Theatre at SOTA from 2009-2019 and still teaches there, often directing their productions and major events. He was Artistic Director of the M1 Singapore Fringe Festival from 2015 – 2020.

Sean has worked full time with The Necessary Stage (2001-2004), Act 3 (1994-1995) and TOUCH (1996-2000) and his directing credits include Sing Song (2004), Such Sweet Sorrow (2004 & 2020), The Perfection of 10 (2012), Body of Land (2015), Smartbutt (2018 & 2019) and Clusterfish (2019).

Founded previously as Varsity Drama in 2006, and later renamed in 2008, NUS Stage has long been dedicated to the nurturing of talents on stage who aspire to tell the untold stories of our generation and who keenly explore the underlying social issues through thought-provoking tales of human drama. We are strongly committed to training actors, nurturing playwrights and grooming production teams who push creative boundaries and produce high quality, artistic content that engages its audiences.

Recent productions include Complicité’s A Disappearing Number, for NUS Arts Festival 2019, The Golden Record for NUS Arts Festival 2017: Brave New Worlds, which commemorated the 40th anniversary of the historical launch of the Voyager 1 space probe and The Golden Record 2.0 directed and written by Edith Podesta together with journalist Corrie Tan. A quote from the play is currently circling space on a satellite launched by the Centre For Quantum Technologies.
