As part of Centre For the Arts’ vision to nurture creative minds and inquiring spirits, the NUS Arts Festival presents Critical Conversations – a series of talks, interactive workshops and panel discussions aimed at deepening discourse and engagement with the festival theme in connection with the arts and topical issues.
The pandemic has exacerbated many aspects of life which we previously took for granted – our mental well-being and the stability of our arts freelancers amongst many others. While these issues may seem like “old news”, there is still much to be done to find restoration in these areas. How can the arts be a space for renewal and hope even as we still grapple with self-doubt, fear and rising costs? Through Critical Conversations , audiences are encouraged to take time to reflect on these concerns together and through active dialogue, and find convergences in the spaces between.
Spaces between – Arts and Well-being (Fri 10 February 2023)
Facilitated by Rosemary McGowan
Mental well-being has become an increasingly popular topic, with more individuals openly discussing, sharing and spreading awareness of this. But do you really know how to take care of your mental well-being? Do you often feel the need to better understand what you are feeling, whether you’re feeling joy, confusion, anger, mixed feelings, or even just plain unsure what triggers you? At this interactive workshop, participants will learn how to unpack emotions using dialogue and the arts as a tool together with counsellor and applied drama practitioner Rosemary McGowan.
Please note that Spaces between – Arts and Well-being is open to NUS students only.
This workshop is limited to 15 participants and is now FULLY SUBSCRIBED. Please email nafticketing@nus.edu.sg if you would like to be put on the waitlist. We will get in touch with you once there is an available slot.
