In 2007, when Ling uploaded an original song onto Youtube, she was astounded to see it garner a million hits. Since then, she has performed in Singapore and Australia and has continued her songwriting career while working with her band, Ling and the Kings, to prepare a new album come 2011.

This event will be held in-conjunction with the NUS Arts Fest 2011.

 

RockFest 2011

Sarah Cheng-De Winne

Singer-songwriter Sarah Cheng-De Winne will perform a smooth mix of jazz, funk and soul from Let's Pretend, her self-penned debut EP, along with unreleased originals and selected covers. An alumni of NUS Jazz Band, she was Artistic Director for Treat Her Like A Lady! in collaboration with Music Director Iskandar Ismail.

This event will be held in-conjunction with the NUS Arts Fest 2011.

NUS Chinese Orchestra, a member of NUS Centre For the Arts, in collaboration with renowned Hong Kong composer Mr. Chen Ning-chi (陈能济) in an exclusive concert featuring the works of Mr. Chen. Headlining the concert will be symphonic poem The Battle of Chibi《赤壁》, which recently made its world premiere with the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra. Mr. Chen has been a prolific composer for decades, and produced numerous classics along the way, including the popular Hong Kong musical Tales of Walled City《城寨风情》, Becoming a Butterfly in a Dream 《梦蝶》 and The Legend of the Dragon《龙的传奇》, all of which will be played at the concert.

20th Century Modern music is the theme of this concert. For its extreme inventiveness and experiments in atonality, it is also sometimes said to form the "Dissonant Period" of classical music. At InTempo 2011 expect to hear original works such as Internal Combustion by David R. Gillingham and Spartacus by Jan Van der Roost. Catch the premiere performance of NUSWS at the Esplanade - Theatres on the Bay!
