Ms. Jamie Yeo
Academic Qualifications
BA in Social Science (Geography), National University of Singapore
Research areas
Blue carbon, greenhouse gas fluxes, coastal wetland ecosystem services, wetland restoration, biodiversity credits
Research interests
My research focuses on blue carbon and their role in climate change mitigation. I study greenhouse gas fluxes to better understand their carbon storage and emissions dynamics. I am also interested in how biodiversity credits can be leveraged to incentivize conservation of blue carbon ecosystem to enhance both ecological and climate resilience.
Biography
Jamie was trained in social science at NUS, studying Geography. Subsequently, she joined UBS Bank as a Product Manager and was introduced to carbon credits and other sustainable banking products. Her interest in carbon credits grew and she started researching on blue carbon. Jamie then did an exchange in CSIRO's (Australia's National Science Agency) Indian Ocean Blue Carbon Hub as a visiting scientist with Dr. Mat Vanderklift. She researched on biodiversity credits as her research project. As part of the Early Career Oceans Professionals Programme, Jamie was further introduced to other field scientists in blue carbon. At the Centre for Nature-based Climate Solutions, she is conducting field research for a large regional blue carbon project funded by Temasek Holdings. Jamie's research aims to quantify robust and defensible blue carbon budgets of mangroves and seagrasses across Southeast Asia by measuring in-situ carbon stocks and fluxes.
