Biography
Shakura aims to draw on her past experiences working across public, private and civil society sectors to unlock barriers in scaling nature-based climate solutions. As part of her PhD research, she will seek to address some of these barriers such as closing the nature financing gap and analysing governance issues related to local communities especially in Southeast Asia. Her interest in nature-based solutions stems from some of her previous work on climate policy, blue carbon and urban agriculture.
Prior to joining CNCS, she was a MAC3 Conservation Scholar (Asia-Pacific Climate Policy) with Conservation International Singapore, a Senior Associate in Temasek’s Sustainable Solutions team and was part of the Singapore Economic Development Board’s Cleantech team working with companies in the areas of water and environmental services.
