AR Organs

Collaborators

This project was done in collaboration with Zhonghua Primary School and the Ministry of Education.

Overview

Letting primary school students understand major body systems through AR technology.

Background

CUTE Center was approached by Zhonghua Primary School to explore how the usage of AR technology can help lower primary school students understand how and why the 3 major body systems (respiratory, circulatory and digestive) are interconnected.

Key Problem(s)

Teachers are concerned that lower primary school students are unable to understand how three different bodily systems - respiratory, circulatory and digestive - are interconnected and work together.

Objective

Students should be able to learn and understand why organ/systems connect by

  1. Exemplifying the physical transfer and exchange of substances at each organ
  2. Leveraging on the concept of trial and error where students learn from their mistakes as a result of their input
  3. Forming a narrative of air and food movements within the body, as well as the concept of blood as a carrier

Solution

Students use a tablet, and scan specially curated AR organ cards in succession, to learn how the organs or systems connect to one another. The combined use of the AR technology and role-playing narrative helps students to understand how our 3 major body systems work and how they are interconnected.
