LeARnus
Collaborators
This project was done in collaboration with Science Centre Singapore.
Overview
Physical interaction with virtual content through the use of Augmented Reality (AR) technology.
Background
The interaction with the virtual content has been conventionally through the use of keyboards, mouse and pointers. With the invention of touchscreen, we explored another input to interact with virtual content. In this project, we pushed the boundaries of the virtual physical interaction through the embodiment of virtual interaction in the space.
Objective
The aim of the project is to explore the use of AR technology to enhance interactions for the purposes of learning in schools.
Solution
LeARnus is a web platform that empowers anyone to create AR easily. Content creators - teachers for example - have the ability to take information out from textbooks and into LeARnus to create engaging games. The editor allows for incorporating interactions such as displaying text and transforming objects. These, along with many more actions help teachers get key concepts across, in real-time. To demonstrate the utility of LeARnus, several interactive programs were created.
Deployment and Usage
LeARnus was showcased in the following locations:
- Science Centre Singapore
- Art Science Museum, Marina Bay Sands
- ICTLT 2015
Impact
The platform brings forth the possibility of creating different interactive content for contexts such as classrooms, prototyping and others. As an extension of this project, AR-Muse was created.
