Fulbright Association (Singapore) Student Exchange Award

The Fulbright Scholar Programme, established in 1946, is designed to increase mutual understanding between the people of the United States and the people of other countries. The Fulbright Association of Singapore has been involved in promoting these objectives by offering the Fulbright Association (Singapore) Student Exchange Award. The Fulbright Association is made up of Fulbright alumni and supporters committed to fostering international awareness and understanding. Local chapters of the Fulbright Association are found in 70 countries.

The purpose of the award is to recognise NUS students who are academically strong and have a good track record of leadership and community service. Preference will also be given to students who are outgoing, articulate and able to bridge cultural differences comfortably.


The quantum will be S$500.

Eligibility Criteria

It is only for National University of Singapore students going to the USA on the Student Exchange Programme (SEP). This scholarship is for students who have been nominated for SEP to the USA by their home School or Faculty.

Existing scholarship or award holders (from any source except for NASA Awards) will NOT be eligible for this award. However, bursary holders, NASA Awards recipients and those on financial aid may apply.

Application Period

In view of the planned resumption of in-person SEP opportunities in AY2021/22 Semester 2, GRO and the Fulbright Association (Singapore) will run an application cycle for this period. Students may apply starting Tuesday, 1st February 2022, and will have until Friday, 1 April 2022 (17:30 Singapore Time) to submit their applications. Please follow the application procedures below.

Application Procedure

  • Duly completed application form.

  • A copy of your CV
  • A copy of ECA / CCA records from pre-university / junior college / polytechnic and NUS
  • A copy of your acceptance letter from your US partner university, or (if reply is pending) a copy of the NUS offer letter confirming your selection for SEP to the partner university

All completed applications must reach NUS before the stipulated deadline of Friday, 1 April 2022 (17:30 Singapore Time) in order to be eligible. Late applications will not be accepted.


Applicants will be notified of their application outcomes via their NUS email addresses. Short-listed candidates will be invited for an interview with GRO staff members in April 2022.


Awardees will be informed of the disbursement date during the announcement of the result.
