Job Title:
SGUnited Traineeship - Research Apprentice

Job Description:

This position will perform computational fluid dynamics (CFD) model with other aerosol model to simulate inhaled airborne particles in head-nose region.  Special interests are to examine the size distribution and corresponding deposition at nasal cavity.

The trainees will gain exposure to the following functional areas:

  • Computational modelling
  • Property and deposition of inhaled airborne nano-size particles
  • Optimizing simulation results with experimental measurements
  • Exposure to multi-disciplinary research groups

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Construct, operate and optimize CFD for the required simulation
  • Apply coupled CFD-aerosol models to nasal cavity in realistic scale
  • Liaise among multi-disciplinary research groups
  • Work closely with teams conducting experimental measurement

Competencies trainee will learn during SGUnited Traineeship Programme:

  • Coupling aerosol models with CFD
  • Investigating potential health impacts of inhaled nano-size particles
  • Validating simulation results with experimental measurements
  • Working with multiple research teams to gain wider exposure
Eligibility criteria
and qualifications:
  • Singapore citizens or permanent residents from NUS’s graduating classes of 2019 and 2020 and not holding any other position
  • BEng / BSc
  • Experiences with using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) models
  • Fast learner of other computational models
