NERI celebrated Snake Year with Yusheng Lo Hei
on 5 February 2025
The NUS Environmental Research Institute (NERI) joyfully celebrated the 2025 Lunar New Year with the cherished tradition of Yusheng Lo Hei. This meaningful event, hosted by Prof Sanjay Swarup, NERI Director, brought together ExCO members, NUS Principal Investigators, and core admin and lab staff.
The Yusheng Lo Hei, also known as the Prosperity Toss, is a beloved Lunar New Year tradition that symbolises abundance, prosperity, and unity. As participants come together to toss the colourful salad, they express their hopes and wishes for the upcoming year, fostering a sense of togetherness and shared aspirations.
The annual ritual not only serves as a celebration of the festive season but also a renewal and strengthening of bonds and camaraderie spirits among colleagues. Through the joyous act of tossing Yusheng colleagues shouted out their wishes and out beat each other by tossing the salad as high as possible into the air, punctuated by similes and laughter.
Thank you to everyone who joined us in this heartwarming tradition. May the year ahead be filled with prosperity, good health, success, and meaningful collaborations!
