NERI, Environmental Sustainability and International Research Collaboration: NERI’s Director Assoc. Prof. Sanjay Swarup shares his thoughts in Indonesia

On 14 and 15 December, NERI Director, Associate Professor Sanjay Swarup, was invited to the 2nd KOICA-ICAB On-Site Capacity Building Workshop and CRC990-EFForTs Workshop on Establishment of New International Research Consortia related to Sustainable Development Goals by Institut Pertanian Bogor (IPB University), Indonesia. The KOICA-ICAB Project is a joint collaboration between Seoul National University and IPB University to enhance capacity in the fields of agriculture and biosciences. Prof Sanjay shared his insights on International Cooperation on Environmental Research. To further international cooperation on sustainable development goals, Prof Sanjay scoped out possible new initiatives for ecosystem conservation and restoration. The CRC990/EFForTS workshop shared experiences for initiation, preparation and implementation of international and interdisciplinary research programmes. Lessons learnt at these two workshops will foster greater and better cooperation between research institutes and universities for international collaborative research projects to bring about sustainable development.
