NUS Fellows, Dr. Bongkotrat Suyamud and Dr. Do Thi Thuy Quyen, shared their cutting-edge research at the NERI Seminar Series
Dr. Bongkotrat Suyamud and Dr. Do Thi Thuy Quyen recently completed their one-year NUS Fellows Programme (Southeast Asia). During this program, they collaborated with Prof. Hu Jiangyong, delving into critical water research issues, focusing on the detection and management of microbial resistance and microplastics in environmental water.
Some background of the NUS Fellows:
- Dr. Suyamud received her PhD in Environmental Technology from Mahidol University, Thailand. She was a Postdoctoral Researcher at Chulalongkorn University prior to embarking on the NUS Fellow Program.
- Dr. Do graduated from Ochanomizu University, Japan and is currently a Lecturer and Researcher at Faculty of Environment, Viet Nam National University Ho Chi Minh City University of Science (VNU-HCMUS).
Dr. Suyamud and Dr. Do presented their research at the recent NERI Seminar Series on 22 Nov 2023. The key highlights are:
- Dr. Suyamud's research revealed how high organic waste impacts the dissemination of tetracycline resistance genes in aquacultures.
- Dr. Do identified co-existences of microplastics and organic contaminants in urban drainage water.
The NUS Fellow (SEA) Programme not only provided an enriching platform for knowledge development but has also honed the capabilities of Dr. Suyamud and Dr. Do. Their dedication to safeguarding water resources doesn't end here! They are committed to continuing their research pursuits.
NERI is truly honored to have hosted Dr. Suyamud and Dr. Do during their enriching fellowship program. Wishing them every success as they embark on the next phase of their research career development.
