Singapore International Science Camp (SISC) May 2024

The Singapore International Science Camp (SISC) May 2024 at NUS, held from May 19 to 24, was an eventful experience! Jointly organised by the Asia Pacific Centre for Management Education (APCME) and NUS Environmental Research Institute (NERI), the camp brought together young science enthusiasts from 16 international schools for a week of discovery, learning, and fun in Singapore.

Highlights:

Project Mentoring Sessions: Students received invaluable guidance from experienced NUS researchers to aid them in their group projects.

Lectures on Sustainability: Among the many lectures on the latest innovation in Science and Technology, Assoc Prof Olivier Lefebvre and Asst Prof Iris Yu delivered enlightening lectures on Environmental Sustainability and the Circular Economy respectively.

Hands-on Workshops: Practical experience in Plant Genetics and 3D Printing Software enhanced students' understanding of DNA, genetic engineering, and manufacturing.

Field Visits: Tours to URA Gallery, NUS Agri-tech Facility, and NUS Computing Gallery provided insights into modern scientific research and technological advancements.

The camp concluded with a Closing and Awards Ceremony which celebrated the achievements and hard work of all participants, featuring inspiring speeches, award presentations, and reflections on the week's accomplishments.

This camp ignited a deeper interest in science among the young participants, providing invaluable experiences and knowledge. A huge thank you to the organisers, instructors, and participants for making this event a success!
