College of Computer Studies and former Head of the Society of University Fellows at De La Salle University
Professor Arnie Azcarraga was a Full Professor at the College of Computer Studies and former Head of the Society of University Fellows at De La Salle University (DLSU). He is recently retired and remains an Adjunct Professor at DLSU.
He obtained a PhD in Computer Science from INP Grenoble, France in 1993. His research interests include text and music mining, as well as various applications of artificial neural networks and machine learning, including generative artificial intelligence (AI).
He was previously a Senior Research Fellow at the National University of Singapore, managing the Programme for Research into Intelligent Systems (PRIS). At DLSU, he has been assigned to numerous academic leadership posts, including Graduate Director, Vice Dean, Dean, Associate Vice Chancellor for External Relations, and Vice Chancellor for Research. He was also the first Executive Vice President of De La Salle Canlubang, now the DLSU Laguna Campus, when the campus first opened in 2003.
He has been trained on university leadership in Kassel, Germany, and in Rome, Italy, and is currently a senior Quality Assurance assessor and trainer of the ASEAN University Network (AUN). He is an outstanding alumnus of Ateneo de Zamboanga, Philippine Science High School, UP Los Banos, and the Asian Institute of Technology.
A member of Mensa since 2005, he is a current member of the AI Board of the Philippine government's Department of Science and Technology (DOST).
