Ms Karla Hotchkiss-Rufino (Business ’10)

Karla is currently the Division Head of Market and Liquidity Risk at China Banking Corporation. Prior to joining China Bank in February 2023, Karla had a combined 11 years in Debt Capital Management, Treasury Credit and Traded and Treasury Risk Management with HSBC Philippines.

A member of the MBA class 2010, she was awarded Most Outstanding Student for her achievement as first runner-up in the UCLA 2009 Business Case Team Competition. She was also a scholar under the NUS-Ian Ferguson scholarship programme in recognition of her non-profit work before joining the MBA programme.

She received her BS BAA from UP Diliman. After passing the CPA board in 2003, Karla joined SGV-Ernst and Young’s tax division as an associate before shifting to banking at Citibank.

Karla has supported various advocacies. She was a regular volunteer at Aidha, teaching domestic helpers about personal financial management and basic computer skills. She also interned at Temasek Cares, supporting programmes that catered to the elderly and the education sector.

Karla is also a hobby violinist, having performed with the Meschianza Quartet from 2001-2007 and the UP String Chamber Orchestra and Manila Philharmonic Orchestra between 2000-2002.
