Dr Maria Thaemar C. Tana

Dr. Maria Thaemar C. Tana is an Associate Professor at the Department of Political Science at the University of the Philippines Diliman. She is a Japan Foundation-Global Japan Studies (JF-GJS) Fellow at the Institute for Advanced Studies on Asia, the University of Tokyo, and a Research Fellow at the Asia Pacific Pathways to Progress (APPFI). Dr. Tana completed her Ph.D. in Japanese Studies from the National University of Singapore and earned her MA in International Studies from De La Salle University Manila. Her research mainly focuses on Philippine foreign policy, Japanese foreign policy, Japan-Southeast Asia relations, and strategic studies.
