NUS College

Undergraduate Education

The NUS College (NUSC) curriculum and experience can be paired with most of the majors offered by colleges, faculties and schools across NUS. Students who wish to be considered for admission to NUSC need to indicate interest for consideration on the Undergraduate Admissions Application Form. For list of majors, click here.

The NUSC curriculum is designed to complement and enhance a student’s chosen major in your home college, faculty or school in NUS. Students can expect to take a total of 14 modules at NUSC, out of 40 modules required for graduation with an NUS degree. This will satisfy most of the common curriculum requirements in the home faculty, and general education requirements in NUS. Students may also replace some of the NUS unrestricted electives with specially curated interdisciplinary electives at NUS College.

This allows students to have an integrated NUS learning experience without having to read more modules than NUS students who are not in NUSC, as well as unparalleled flexibility to pursue multiple pathways and specialisations, such as double degrees/majors.

The 14 modules comprise Foundational & Common modules – covering Critical Competencies and Global Orientation, a wide of array of advanced interdisciplinary electives under the Making Connections modules, and a team-based Impact Experience Project.

More details of the breakdown of the curriculum and details of the domains can be found at: https://nuscollege.nus.edu.sg/learn/.

The Global Pathways Programme is a flagship programme in NUSC that aims to crystalise the foundational learning of global perspectives and world issues by immersing students in an international programme located at five regions. The objective is to provide students with opportunities for a transformative experience that will power their aspirations and instil a strong sense of curiosity, courage, and confidence to fulfil their dreams of making a change in the world.

GPP comprises the Global Experience Module (GEx) and an academic exchange component. The GEx will be a specially curated module involving seminars with guest professors, workshops with practitioners, masterclasses with experts, fireside chats with important personalities, and field visits to pertinent sites such as start-ups, research centres, government offices, cultural and community institutions. The NUS Overseas College (NOC) in each region will serve as the host institution for the GEx. Students will be required to participate fully in these curated activities.

The flagship GPP will be made available to NUSC students on a competitive basis, with spaces for up to 60% of each cohort made available each year. Every semester, each GEx class in each location will have an enrolment of about 30 students, led by an on-site NUSC faculty member. Successful applicants will be given a Global Pathways fellowship to offset travel and housing costs, with further financial aid made available to those in need. Students may apply to enrol in GPP in any one of the four semesters in their second and third years of study at NUSC.

More information about GPP can be found at: https://nuscollege.nus.edu.sg/learn/global-pathways/.

Graduation Certificate
The NUS College Certificate is awarded to the student at the Commencement ceremony upon:
1. Completing all NUSC academic requirements;
2. Completing the honours requirement of the home faculty or school; and
3. Receiving at least an Honours (Merit) degree

Academic Expectations
To graduate with NUSC certification, students must complete the NUSC requirements and achieve at least an Honours (Merit) degree in the Home Faculty.

Each student whose cumulative average point (CAP) is below 3.5 for any semester will receive a warning that his or her academic performance is inadequate. Students with inadequate academic performance will be counselled.

NUSC is an academic programme and not a scholarship disbursement programme. NUSC students may however apply for NUS scholarships, or be recipients of other scholarships. For details, please visit http://www.nus.edu.sg/oam/scholarships.
