Safety & Health Management
The Safety and Health Unit is responsible for facilitating the building of a positive safety, health and environmental culture and learning experience for all NUS staff and students through the adoption of safety and health best practices and systems.
This is achieved through the implementation of a safety and health management system across NUS Departments and Faculties (SMS@NUS). This system has been modelled after international standards such as ISO 45001:2018 (Occupational health and safety management systems). To ensure NUS staff and students adequately review the hazards and risks for their activities, the Safety and Health Unit has developed safety and health programmes such as biosafety, chemical, radiation, office, etc. There is also promotional and outreach programmes to raise safety awareness and culture levels on campus.

Due to the diverse nature of activities on campus and their arising hazards and risks, the Safety and Health Unit had developed appropriate polices, manuals, programmes to ensure these hazards are effectively managed.
