Associate Professor Wu Siew Mei
Associate Professor Wu Siew Mei was Director at the Centre for English Language Communication (CELC) over the past 12 years, during which she led the expansion of teaching good communication to the NUS community and beyond. Siew Mei contributed to the development of the scholarship of teaching and learning at NUS. As an educator, Siew Mei received the NUS Annual Teaching Excellence Award (ATEA) (Team) in 2021, the NUS Teaching Excellence Award as well as the CELC Commendation for Teaching Excellence in 2007-2008.
Her research interest stems from related English language classroom issues, including investigations into the nature of academic writing, objective testing in large scale English language proficiency assessment and the validation of test descriptors. Her current research project, funded by the MOE Tertiary Education Research Fund (TRF), investigates students' writing development longitudinally, using a corpus approach.
Siew Mei will assume her duties as Vice Dean of Students from 1 July 2021. She will oversee the DYOMs that are offered in OSA as well as the curricula in Residential Colleges.
