Programme Structure / 2016 Cohort

##: NUS will adopt three new academic terminologies from 1 August 2023 - “Module” will be renamed “Course”, “Modular Credit (MC)” will be renamed “Unit”, and “Cumulative Average Point (CAP)” will be renamed “Grade Point Average (GPA)”. The definition of a Module/Course and MC/Unit will remain the same, and there will be no change to the computation of the CAP/GPA.

Note 1: Students must read the following:

  • One exposure module in the division of Asian Studies XX1101E (4MCs)
  • One exposure module in the division of Humanities XX1101E (4MCs)
  • NM1101E or NM1101X (4MCs) as one exposure module in the division of Social Sciences. This will be counted towards Faculty Core.
  • FAS1101 Writing Academically: Arts and Social Sciences (4 MCs). Students in USP/UTown can use the relevant writing modules, UWC2101%, UTW1001% or UTW2001% to fulfil the FAS1101 requirement.
  • FAS1102 Public Communication and Writing (4 MCs) as Common Module. It is exempted for mid-stream BIZ students if they have read and passed ES2002 Business Communication. Should BIZ students exit from the DDP programme and return to BBA, they still have to read ES2002 even though they may have completed FAS1101 or FAS1102 or both.

Note 2: Detailed requirements to fulfil Elective Major Modules:

  1. A minimum of 44 MCs of level 2000 or higher (including NM2101, NM2103.NM2104) with
  2. A minimum of 20 MCs of level 3000 NM or NM recognised modules or higher
  3. A maximum of 2 level 4000 NM modules (subject to department's approval)
  4. A maximum 8 MCs of recognised modules (optional)
  5. A maximum of 2 level 5000 NM modules (subject to department's approval)

Note 3: DDP students who have read EC1101E / EC1301 are still required to read BSP1005, as the two modules are not preclusion for BSP1005. EC1101E / EC1301 should be read before BSP1005.
