##: NUS will adopt three new academic terminologies from 1 August 2023 - “Module” will be renamed “Course”, “Modular Credit (MC)” will be renamed “Unit”, and “Cumulative Average Point (CAP)” will be renamed “Grade Point Average (GPA)”. The definition of a Module/Course and MC/Unit will remain the same, and there will be no change to the computation of the CAP/GPA.

^ It is not compulsory for DDP students to do a specialisation for the BBA degree, but they are still required to complete 20 MCs of electives based on the above arrangement. Students who wish to specialise in a business area may have to read extra modules to meet the respective specialisation requirements. Business (home faculty) students who withdraw from the DDP and return to the BBA/BBA(H) single degree programme are still required to specialise.

+ As the Honours thesis is optional, students may replace it with NM level-4000 modules that will count towards their CNM Honours requirements only.

The modules from (1)-(6) above are prescribed. Therefore, please ensure that you refer to the approved prescribed modules.

For example, if you read GESS1234, it is not a prescribed module on the list. You would still need to read HSS1000. HSS1000 will concurrently fulfil the CHS core and Singapore Studies pillar requirements. Hence, GESS1234 will be an excess module not counted towards your DDP requirement but the grade will still be factored into your CAP.

Consequently, if you complete HSS1000, and you decide to withdraw from this DDP and pursue only a single degree in BBA , it will still be counted towards satisfying your GSS pillar requirement.

Notes

  1. For students who are admitted at the point of admission, you will be expected to start reading modules to satisfy the CHS core requirements from your first year of study, please note that a number of CHS common core modules (marked by #) will be pre-allocated to you. We target to first pre-allocate to you (if CHS is your 2nd home Faculty), the modules that are concurrently recognised towards the general education pillars, to reduce the number of excess modules, should you decide to exit from this DDP. As a guide, you may refer to the pre-allocation sequence for CHS students in the single degree programmes.

    In addition, we wish to alert you, and also potential mid-stream DDP applicants, that there is a list of prescribed modules for the various categories of CHS common modules. Hence, you have to follow the list posted at https://chs.nus.edu.sg/programmes/#prog-overview carefully. Please refer to the above example on GESS1234 and HSS1000 about satisfying the GSS pillar requirement.
  2. Students in the NUSC, UTCP or RVRC will read the respective college programmes’ modules and count them towards part of the CHS common core requirements as laid out in Table E.
  3. C1 means the credits and grades that will be factored towards your first degree, C2 means towards your second degree and CA means for both degrees. In this illustration, Biz is deemed to be your first Faculty.

The CHS common modules listed above are prescribed. If there is no mapping approved with the modules offered by NUSC/UTCP/RVRC, you must read the modules under the CHS-approved prescribed modules.
As a guide, prior approval has to be sought for variations, if any. 

For direct-admits to the DDP,  if you read GEA1999, it is not a prescribed module on the list. You would still need to read GEA1000 or other modules on the CHS prescribed list. GEA1000 will concurrently fulfil the CHS core and the Data Literacy pillar requirements. Hence, GEA1999 will be an excess module not counted towards your DDP requirements but the grade will still be factored into your CAP. 

Notes

  1. Mid-stream DDP applicants, please take note that that there is a list of prescribed modules for the various categories of CHS common modules. Hence, you have to follow the list posted at CHS Programme Overview carefully. FASS will provide academic counselling to affected students. As a guide, prior approval has to be sought for variations, if any.
  2. NUSC/UTCP students are not required to read FAS1101. Students who exit from NUSC / UTCP without having read Thinking with Writing, UTW1001 or UTW2001 would need to read FAS1101.
  3. Students who have read Thinking with Writing or ES1601 do not need to read ES2002. Thinking with Writing or ES1601 will be classified as a common module in lieu of ES2002.
  4. The module code and title will depend on the DDP student's home faculty:
    1. XFA4412 Integrated Honours Thesis, if home faculty is FASS
    2. XFB4001 Integrated Honours Thesis, if home faculty is BIZ
  5. Detailed requirements to CNM Major Requirement:
    • A minimum of 48MCs with:
      • 16MCs of compulsory NM modules (at Table C)
      • minimum 20MCs of NM4000 modules
      • remaining 12MCs must be modules read at NM3000
      • a maximum of 2 level-5000 NM modules (subject to department's approval)
      • a maximum of 12 MCs of recognised modules (optional)
