Double Degree in BCOMP (CS)(Hons) and BBA (Hons) Programme

Programme Structure / 2016 Cohort

##: NUS will adopt three new academic terminologies from 1 August 2023 - “Module” will be renamed “Course”, “Modular Credit (MC)” will be renamed “Unit”, and “Cumulative Average Point (CAP)” will be renamed “Grade Point Average (GPA)”. The definition of a Module/Course and MC/Unit will remain the same, and there will be no change to the computation of the CAP/GPA.

(B) BBA Programme Requirements 108
Foundation Modules 64 Students read 64 MCs of BIZ foundation modules, subject to double-counting in Table A.

Honours Dissertation 12 Students read a dissertation to fulfil BBA requirements. DDP students may read integrated honours dissertation which will double count towards both degree requirements.**

(C) BComp Programme Requirements - 120 124 126
CS Foundation 36 36 36 Students read 36 MCs of CS Foundation. Students will read CS2103 in place of CS2103T.
CS Breadth and Depth (exclude BComp Dissertation /Industrial Experience Training) 32 36 38 Students read the required number of MCs for CS Breadth and Depth. On fulfilment of at least a CS Focus area from the 24 MCs of CS modules, students may complete the remaining MC requirement by using common modules not double-counted elsewhere (refer to Table A: List of Common Modules). Students must have at least 12 MCs of modules at level-4000 or higher.
IT Professionalism 12 12 12 Students read and double-count ES2002 in place of CS2101 (refer to Table A: List of Common Modules)
Mathematics and Sciences 28 28 28 Students read the required MCs for Mathematics and Sciences. Students can replace ST2334 with DSC2008. Please refer to Note (1) for those with H2 Mathematics/Physics or their equivalents and are precluded from doing MA1301 and PC1221/PC1222 respectively.
BComp Dissertation / Industrial Experience Training - 12 12 12 Students read an integrated honours dissertation/thesis which will double count towards both degree requirements. Students in Turing Programme must complete CP4101 BComp Dissertation.*
(D) Common Modules Refer to Table A Maximum 36 MCs may be double-counted as common modules:
  • Three common modules from Table A(1) and A(2); and
  • From Table A(3):
    • Maximum three BIZ Modules
    • Maximum three CS Modules
(New modules may be introduced later.)
(E) Unrestricted Elective 32 20 16 14 Exempted for DDP

* DDP students who are not able to secure an Integrated Honours Thesis will read 2 honours dissertations to fulfil both degree requirements separately. Of the three BIZ Honours Dissertation replacement modules, up to one can be a recognized computing level-4000 common module from this Table. Students in Turing Programme must complete the B.Comp. Dissertation.

Notes

  1. MA1301 is waived for students with A-level or H2 pass in Mathematics. The 4 MCs gained from the waiver should be used to read another module. PC1221 and PC1222 are waived for students with A-level or H2 pass in Physics. The 4 MCs gained from the waiver should be used to read another module. However for Double degree programmes, students with such qualification are not required to replace the corresponding MCs towards CS programme requirements.
  2. Due to the many permutations available, students reading this programme will construct a personalised double-degree programme curriculum with the help of the DDP administrators from both schools.
