I think the ART of good teaching is firmly anchored on the HEART for teaching. One must first enjoy the process of teaching in order to be motivated to improve, to innovate, and even to re-invent. To fuel that passion, we should adopt a learner’s mindset unceasingly, gaining new insights along the way. In so doing, I hope we can all rediscover the joy of apprenticeship, and help others achieve the ends of the learning without compromising on the means to get there.

About being a part of the Academy…

Being part of the Academy is accepting a call to greater commitment towards teaching. I believe Teaching Academy plays a key role in NUS as a conduit to advocate good teaching practices and influence education policies so that our graduates can become more workforce-ready and future-ready. Beyond that, it is a champion for scholarship in teaching through leading by example and equipping the rest of the academic community with the know-how to do so.
