My Learning Journey: From Inspiration to Innovation
What inspires us to learn? How do we sustain that inspiration for a lifetime of learning? How can we apply our creativity in our work? In this presentation I document my own personal learning journey, from my early years at school, through my formative years to the point I chose my career pathway. It has been a convoluted journey involving many diverse and meandering pathways. From music and art, via medicine and photography, through to psychology and computer science, my career has embraced many disciplines and innovations. I will discuss my many inspirations, my unconventional academic career and the surprises I discovered along the pathway to innovation. Mark Twain once wrote: “There are two important days in your life: The day you were born, and the day you find out why.” Finding the reason for your life, and sustaining the inspiration of that discovery has turned out to be one of the most important milestones in my life.
