Daniel Jew

Daniel Jew is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of History, and Director of Studies at the College of Alice & Peter Tan (CAPT), within the National University of Singapore (NUS). He has been a Teaching Fellow at CAPT since 2014, and is currently also a Resident Fellow. He read Classics (Ancient History) at Trinity College, Cambridge (BA, 1998; MPhil, 1999; PhD, 2009) and was formerly Moses and Mary Finley Research Fellow in Ancient History at Darwin College, Cambridge (2010-2012). He is the author of several book chapters on the Greek economy, and co-editor of The Uncertain Past: Probability in Ancient History (with M. Lavan & B. Danon, 2023, Cambridge UP) and M.I. Finley: An Ancient Historian and His Impact (with R. Osborne & M. Scott, 2016, Cambridge UP).

On Being a Part of the Teaching Academy
It is very humbling to be amongst such accomplished teachers. My hope is that we can work together to harness evidence and global best practices to further strengthen teaching and learning, and educational policy, within the university.
