Schemes for Hostel Fees

Residential College Bursaries

The Residential College Bursaries are made possible by NUS and generous donors to help financially needy full-time undergraduates with their accommodation expenses.

The value of each bursary is at least S$3,950 per annum.

Financially needy full-time undergraduates reading the College Programme and residing  at the West Wing (NUSC)Cinnamon Wing (NUSC)College of Alice & Peter TanResidential College 4Ridge View Residential College and Tembusu College.

Eligibility is dependent on the applicant’s assessed level of financial needs.

Note: Students who are reading the Concurrent Degree Programmes will not be eligible for the bursary once they are charged graduate tuition fee. For more information on the Financial Aid schemes available for graduates, please click here.

These bursaries are funded by donations and will be offered from July onwards.


Successful recipients are required to: 


1.    submit appreciation letters to donors;

2.    meet with donors (if requested); and

3.    provide assistance at Faculty, Residential Colleges or University events (if requested) 


The recipient must not concurrently hold the Residential College Bursary with any other bursary, scholarship, grant or free aid without prior approval from the University at any time for the same academic year.


The University reserves the right to withdraw the bursary if the recipient is found to be holding a concurrent bursary, scholarship, grant or free aid.


The award is tenable for one year and a fresh application is required each academic year. The bursary will be used to offset the accommodation fees directly if both the accommodation fees and tuition fees are charged. Half of the bursary will be disbursed in Semester 1 and the remainder will be disbursed in Semester 2 of the academic year.

To be considered for the Residential College Bursary, you are required to apply for Financial Aid here. 

Upon satisfactory compliance of all terms and conditions of the Residential College Bursary, the funds will be disbursed by the Office of Finance twice a year around September and February each year. All fees due to the University will be deducted from such funds prior to crediting.
