Speaking at the 10th Public Health Thought Leadership Dialogue organised by the Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health, Mr Khairy Jamaluddin, Malaysia’s Minister for Health, noted that the accelerated pace of urbanisation, climate change and global connectivity could also exacerbate the spread of more zoonoses – infectious diseases that are transmitted between animals and people – like SARS, MERS, and COVID-19.
